Your Journey Starts Here

Independent Study

To be successful in their studies, students need to be organised, manage their time well and become independent learners. They are expected to do at least 5 hours independent study per subject per week as well as engage in wider reading for their chosen subjects. Managing time effectively is supported by our experienced team of tutors and our dedicated Student Support Lead.

Sixth Form Induction

Where can I find the induction tasks that I need to complete?

Mrs Smith emailed you the induction tasks for your options and the links were also included in your conditional offer letter.

I am anxious that I am not going to get the grades for sixth form. What can I do?

We have been advising students to make sure that you have a backup plan in place. If you haven’t already done so, then you need to make an application to a college or to a sixth form at another school. Please let Miss Rehman know if you need the support of our Careers Adviser.

What extra work can I do to prepare for sixth form?

As well as completing the Induction Tasks that you have been sent, you need to consolidate your GCSE knowledge for your A Level and BTEC subjects. All courses in Year 12 require a solid foundation of GCSE work. Dipping into A Level/BTEC content will also stand you in good stead. The best way to do this is to self-quiz material.

What do I do if I want to change my options?

Email Mrs Smith, sooner rather than later, so that she can check whether your new choices fit into the option blocks. Be aware that some courses are now full so you may not be able to change.

If I don’t get the grade for a certain subject, will I still be able to do it?

No, you will not be allowed to study that subject. If this is the case, you will be asked to change your options on Results Day. You must meet the course requirements to continue studying that subject in Year 12. This is non-negotiable.

Sixth Form Leadership Team

Our leadership team of Head Students, Deputy Head Students and Ambassadors is made up of a dynamic group of Year 12 and Year 13 students who represent our sixth form. Taking a leading role in whole academy events, they are an influential voice across the academy who take great pride in their roles.

Sixth Form Enrichment

Years 12 and 13 have been enjoying time away from their studies on Wednesday afternoons by taking part in Enrichment activities: team sports, charity work, board games, first aid and much more. Trips and visits have enhanced our sixth form’s experience, including attending the UCAS Fair, law courts, theatres and being involved in rewards trips.
